We help Creatives transform Art into enterprise

Making a living from art is a dream. If you have a dream to chase, but feel uncertain about how to be an artist in business, or how to run a business, you’re not alone.

Our business trainings are for everyone, including creative/makers of all varieties, as well as fine art, woodworking, crafts, jewelry, writers, poets, musicians, performers, potters, and designers!

Creatives are a vital part of our community- they share beauty and entertainment, they encourage healing and change, and they greatly contribute to our economic growth.  The Creative Economy makes up 8.7% of Washington's GDP.

“I have my pencil and watercolor, and I view my website and my marketing and my accounting as an extension of my internal art world. It just exists in various different ways. And hopefully in ways that it can spread what I want to spread - happiness and cuteness and weirdness - through the world.” -Kiana Diaz, Snail Bear Art

Find your community

Creativity is a vulnerable thing. It calls for safety and comfort. And business can be scary. That’s why we offer a safe space, among a community of your peers, where you can tap into your creativity and curate a business model and a business plan that’s right for you.

Your classmates will be among your greatest supports and greatest resources as you move forward with your business. You’ll bounce ideas off each other, share resources and referrals, serve as a sounding board for one another, and hold space as you learn together.

“Art allows us to illuminate the truths and question what is happening around us, encourages us to break free of the confines of reality, guides us to heal ourselves and connect with one another, and nourishes us with beauty and joy.” - Erika Naficy, 3rd Hand Artist Support

Let’s demystify business together

Starting a business can be overwhelming. There are SO MANY questions and challenges. Will I have to compromise my artistic decisions to make money? Will the needs of the business cut into my creative time? How do I brand my business? How do I package my work? Accounting?! Taxes?! Can I just sell my work and not worry about all this stuff?

Together, we’ll tease apart each element of a business and walk through finances, marketing, operations, and taxes. As you gain clarity, the process of designing your business will become an outlet for your creative expression. Because creativity is your superpower.

Break the unwritten rules

People say that you can’t make money as an artist. Or that you have to sell your soul and fit the mold that existing systems and institutions have created for artists. These systems offer valid paths to success, but not everyone fits the mold.

Don’t believe the myths. Your business is a vehicle for your creativity. Create what you wish for the world. Design your business for it. We’ll help!
